article as a fairly useless clickbait construct from a Clemson fan sight. The most glaring failing is that in the case of Clemson to the SEC ESPN would be playing a zero sum game with itself in damaging one property and benefitting another of its properties. Maybe another benefit to the ACC having waited on a network is in essence having ESPN and the SEC as business partners?
It also ignores the fact that the GOR as designed is a guard against any downward negotiation, as if a school leaves for another conference the revenue from their GOR would presumably be equal or higher leaving the conference AND ESPN at worst revenue neutral toward their current agreement. To really break the GOR the conference would in all likelihood have to dissolve or an individual school would have to prove they were unfairly induced to sign the original GOR. Either situation would seem a fairly high bar to clear.
